CATHERINE O’DONNELL CLAIMS GOSFORD ART PRIZE

Catherine O’Donnell has outclassed around 1,000 entrants to take out the 2020 Gosford Art Prize.

Her charcoal drawing ‘Waiting for the World to Open’, is a comment on life amid the pandemic.

“At the moment, we’re living under difficult conditions so to have prizes like this available to artists who are suffering a lot at the moment, it’s just a wonderful thing,” the artist said.

“So thank you to the gallery, thank you to the council.”

In other divisions, Dharug woman Claudia Kent took out the Aboriginal Art Prize and Amanda Hale got top honours in ceramics.
