MAN CHARGED AFTER ALLEGEDLY LIGHTING BUSHFIRE

A Central Coast man has been charged after allegedly deliberately lighting a fire at Woy Woy.

Emergency services were called to Woy Woy Road at 3:30am, following reports of a bushfire.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

About 150 square metres of bushland was damaged.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 27-year-old man found nearby.

He was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread.

He was appeared at Newcastle Bail Court today, where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Gosford Local Court on Monday.
