KNIGHTS PLAYERS TO’A AND SASAGI CLEARED TO PLAY FOLLOWING COVID BREACH

Newcastle Knights players Starford To’a and Simi Sasagi have been cleared of COVID-19 breaches by the NRL, despite the pair attending a rugby league match on Sunday.

To’a played on the wing for the Knights in their big over the Tigers on Saturday night, while Sasagi is yet to make his NRL debut.

Reports surfaced on Sunday night of the pair going into a COVID-hold, but the club has now confirmed they have been cleared to play and train.

“The National Rugby League has confirmed that the COVID-hold placed on nib Newcastle Knights players Starford To’a and Simi Sasagi has been lifted effective immediately,” a statement from the Knights read.

“The Club reported a potential breach by the players on Sunday. The potential breach involved the players attendance at a local rugby league game on Sunday afternoon.

“Following investigation by the NRL Integrity Unit, it was determined that the level of COVID risk exposure for both players was negligible.

“This led to a recommendation that the COVID-hold on To’a and Sasagi be lifted. The recommendation was put to Project Apollo and subsequently supported.

Both players will be avaliable for selection for this weekend’s game against the Sea Eagles.
