TWO PEOPLE CHARGED FOR IGNORING PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER ON MID COAST

Police have taken legal action against 17 people across the state for not complying with the Public Health Order over the weekend.

In total, six people were charged and 11 were issued $1,000 Penalty Infringement Notices, including two on the Mid North Coast.

Just after midnight yesterday, officers stopped an unregistered Toyota Kluger outside a hotel on the Pacific Highway at Coffs Harbour.

They spoke to the driver, a 29-year-old woman, who showed officers her Victorian driver’s licence.

While speaking to her, a 32-year-old man, known to the woman, approached the vehicle.

Checks revealed the couple entered New South Wales on July 27 on a transit permit, before staying at Port Macquarie on Sunday, the 2nd of August.

The pair were arrested and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where they were both charged.

They appeared at Port Macquarie Bail Court yesterday, and were granted conditional bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.

In a separate incident last Friday, police attended a home on Cecil Street at Nimbin.

They spoke to a 31-year-old woman who arrived in the state from Victoria on Saturday the 1st of August.

Checks revealed the woman had visited a friend in Maitland, stopped at Nabiac and Gosford, and picked up a patient who had been discharged from Lismore Base Hospital.

The woman is due to appear in Lismore Local Court on September 21.
