TWO CONFIRMED CASES OF COVID-19 IN NEWCASTLE IN PAST 24 HOURS

There’s been two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Hunter New England Health district in the past 24 hours.

The latest case is a man aged in his 20s, who attended the Bennett Hotel in Hamilton on Friday between 5.30 and 10pm.

He also attended the Greenroof restaurant, Hamilton between 10pm and Midnight and the Hopsmith Sports Bar, Wests New Lambton on Sunday August 2, between 5pm and 7.30pm.

Those venues have been closed for deep cleaning.

Anyone who visited those spots between the given times should self isolate and get tested.

Hunter New Engalnd Health is also urging anyone who visited the following venues to be alert for symptoms and self-isolate immediately.

– Bennett Hotel, Hamilton – Friday 31 July, from 5.30pm to 10.00pm
– Bar 88, Wests New Lambton – Sunday 2 August, from 5.00pm to 7.15pm
– Sydney Junction Hotel, Hamilton – Saturday 1 August, from 11pm midnight to 1.15am Sunday 2 August

Be alert for symptoms, and if any develop to get tested and self-isolate immediately:

– Queens Wharf Hotel on Saturday 1 August between 9.30 and 11.00pm
– McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday 2nd August during the Newcastle Jets Match
– Sushi Revolution, Hamilton on Saturday 1 August, from 12pm to 1.00pm
– Greenroof Bar and Restaurant, Hamilton – Friday 31 July, from 10.30pm to 12.15 midnight

The man, aged in his 20s, is a close contact of a teenager from St Pius X High School who also tested positive.

The teen is a member of the Newcastle Jets Under 15s representative squad who played against Stanmore Hawks at Arlington Oval in Sydney’s Dulwich Hill on August 1st.

Both teams are considered close contacts and are required to self isolate immediately.

The teen also caught the Number 26 school bus (Hamilton to Adamstown) to school on Monday 3 August, at 8.20am.

All people who caught the same bus should self-isolate immediately.

– Laverty’s Tomaree Hospital Clinic. Open 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. **no booking required but GP referral is preferred**
