NBN’S JANE GOLDSMITH NOMINATED FOR OUTSTANDING WORK

NBN News reporter Jane Goldsmith has been recognised for her outstanding work, announced as a finalist in the prestigious NRMA Kennedy Awards.

Jane is a finalist in the Paul Lockyer Award for Outstanding Regional Broadcast Reporting, for her series of stories titled “The Missing Girls”. The stories concentrated on developments in the case of three girls who went missing at Lake Macquarie in the 1970s.

“Jane broke the story in April 2019, that detectives were reviewing the cases of three missing Lake Macquarie teenagers, and pursued it without peer,” said NBN’s Head of News Blake Doyle.

“From there, it was masterclass in good old fashioned journalism. Door knocking, developing and keeping contacts and plenty of investigating the story, off the clock,” he said.

“Jane’s stories were thorough and she was first to them. They were picked up and run by national media. Without her passion, these stories would never have got to air,” he said.

Jane was nominated from a near record field of entries.

The awards will be held later this year.
