FAR NORTH COAST MAN INJURED AFTER MOUNTAIN BIKING FALL

A man has suffered suspected spinal injuries after a nasty fall while mountain biking west of Ballina.

Emergency services were called to the Duck Creek Mountain Bike Park just before midday.

The 49-year-old was carried from the track on a stretcher before being transported to Lismore Base Hospital.

“The helmet stopped the patient from being seriously injured. If the patient was not wearing a helmet he would have sustained significant head injuries,” Inspector Greg Powell from NSW Ambulance said.

He remains in a stable condition.
