MAN DIES AFTER NORTHERN TABLELANDS CRASH

After spending two weeks in hospital, a man has succumbed to his injuries, passing away following a horrific accident in the state’s Northern Tablelands.

The 70-year-old truck driver lost control of his vehicle while travelling along Manilla Road at Red Hill on the morning of Tuesday 30 June.

The truck left the road and went careering down an embankment before crashing into a large rock.

The driver was trapped and was later freed by Fire and Rescue NSW, once emergency services arrived at the scene.

He was taken to Tamworth Base Hospital in a critical condition before being airlifted to Royal North Shore, where he dies yesterday.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
