Newcastle Airport has seen its busiest day in months, after Queensland’s borders re-opened.
Jetstar and Qantas flights set off towards Brisbane and the Gold Coast today.
Airport CEO Peter Cock said early demand for people travelling north is strong.
“Whilst a number of these services are scheduled for four or five times a week from Monday, hopes are that all flights will increase to daily soon.”
Virgin will resume scheduled flights to Brisbane from tomorrow.
Passengers travelling to Queensland are being urged to complete a border declaration before boarding a plane.
