ELDERLY MAN DIES IN FATAL CRASH ON MID NORTH COAST

A man has died after a truck transporting cattle crashed into his car on the mid north coast late yesterday afternoon.

The 90-year-old was driving his Suzuki Jimmy along the Pacific Highway when he collided with a Hino rigid tabletop truck at the Myall Way intersection at Tea Gardens.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 4.50pm and the elderly man died shortly after.

The 24-year-old man driving the Hino escaped without injury, as did the two steers he was transporting.

The Hino driver returned a negative roadside breath test and was taken to the Mater Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
