HOON ARRESTED AFTER POLICE PURSUIT AT LAKE MACQUARIE

A 47-year-old man has been arrested after leading police on a pursuit and allegedly drink driving overnight.

About 10pm, Lake Macquarie police conducted patrols around Bonnells Bay after community concerns regarding hoon driving.

Police allege a driver of a Holden Commodore was seen doing a burnout on Morisset Park Road.

When officers attempted to stop the car, it sped off and a pursuit commenced.

Police caught the man a few minutes later in Maddie Street.

The 47-year-old male driver from Dapto, failed a road side breath test.

He was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station, where he allegedly returned a low-range reading.

He’s been charged with one aggravated burnout offence, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly and drive with low range PCA.

The man’s licence was suspended and was granted conditional bail to appear at Toronto Local Court next month.
