STABBED IN THE BACK, MAN CHARGED OVER DOMESTIC RELATED INCIDENT

A man will face Port Macquarie local court tomorrow after he allegedly stabbed a woman in a carpark during a domestic related incident.

At about 7.30pm, emergency services were called to Beach Street, Forster, after reports a woman had been injured.

Police say the 21-year-old woman was parked in the carpark with a friend, when she was confronted by the man, known to her, and was stabbed in the back.

When her friend, a 22-year-old woman, went to her aid, she was allegedly threatened with the knife and had her mobile phone taken during the altercation.

The injured woman was treated by paramedics for two stab wounds and taken to Manning Base Hospital before she was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.

Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested at a home on Carribean Street, Forster, about 1.30am today.

He was taken to Forster Police Station, where he was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon, wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and two counts of contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic).

He was refused bail.
