ALLEGED DRINK DRIVER CHARGED AFTER CENTRAL COAST PURSUIT

A drink driver, allegedly blowing nearly two times the alcohol limit, has narrowly missed a Tuggerah Lakes police officer during a pursuit on the Central Coast.

The driver failed to stop after speeding past police at Bateau Bay around 10.40pm on Wednesday night and a pursuit began.

The getaway driver then lost control at the intersection of Shortland Street and Wyong Road at Killarney Vale, crashing into traffic lights, leaving the traffic pole bent sideways.

When police approached the vehicle, the driver reversed, narrowly missing an officer.

The 34-year-old disqualified driver was taken out of the car, with officers allegedly finding cannabis in her clothing.

She was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where she allegedly returned breath analysis reading of 0.098.

The woman was charged with a string of offences, including drink driving and possessing a prohibited drug.

She was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today.
