CAR PLOUGHS INTO TELARAH HOME, PASSENGER RUNS OFF

A crime scene has been set up in Telarah, after a car ploughed into a home on Brooks Street this afternoon.

Police were patrolling the New England Highway just after 2pm, when they noticed a vehicle allegedly travelling at speed.

They tried to stop the driver, but he failed to stop, beginning a pursuit.

The vehicle lost control at the intersection of Brooks Street and Raymond Street, just missing a nearby primary school, and collided with two fences before crashing in to the front of a home.

It’s understood two people and an infant were inside at the time, but neither were injured.

One of the passengers fled the scene, while the driver and one passenger were left trapped, rescued by emergency services soon after.

A female passenger was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, the male driver was taken by road.

Police are investigating what caused the crash, and continue to look for the passenger on the run.
