HUNTER DRUG TRAFFICKER WHO LOST $17,000 WORTH OF ICE JAILED

A Hunter man has been sentenced to six years jail for his role in what a judge today described as a “significant drug supply syndicate.”

Tyson Handsaker will spend at least three-years and four-months behind bars, for supplying a total of 290-grams of drugs.

In a deal gone wrong, Handsaker lost $17,000 worth of the drug, when a dealer simply drove off with the stash, after telling the 27-year-old he was going to his car to inspect it.

The 27-year-old, who had earlier pleaded guilty to three-drug supply charges, was represented by solicitors Kristy Winter and Chris O’Brien during his sentencing in Newcastle District Court today.

Handsaker will be eligible for release on December 31, 2022.
