POLICE OUT IN FORCE OVER THE LONG WEEKEND

Police will be carrying out stationary RBTs and roadside drug tests once again this Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

The practices were scaled back across New South Wales at the height of the COVID-19 crisis.

Now that restrictions have been relaxed, with pubs and clubs back open and higher volumes of traffic on our roads, motorists can expect police to be out in force.

They’ll be targeting dangerous driving, including speeding, drink and drug driving, fatigue and mobile phone / driver distractions.

“With the easing of restrictions on travel and going out to support restaurants and pubs ahead of the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, the community is understandably itching to return to some form of normalcy,” said Minister for Police and Emergency Services, David Elliott.

“Irresponsible or reckless behaviour that endangers others will not be tolerated – there’s no excuse for not abiding by the road rules. The community has already been through enough already – we’ve had enough trauma.”
