WOMAN CHARGED OVER LAKE MACQUARIE CRASH

A woman is facing several driving charges following a crash at Lake Macquarie earlier this year, which left her and another woman critically injured.

The two cars collided on March 25, at the intersection of Ntaba Road and the Pacific Highway at Jewells.

A 73-year-old woman and a 60-year-old woman were taken to John Hunter Hospital.

The 60-year-old woman has since been released from hospital.

She was arrested at Newcastle Police Station yesterday and charged with five offences, including dangerous driving, using a mobile phone behind the wheel, and driving with an illicit drug in her system.

She’ll appear at Newcastle Local Court on July 30.

The older woman remains in hospital in a serious condition.

She’s receiving treatment for spinal fractures, head and internal injuries.
