COUNCIL TO GAUGE FLOODING RISK IN SOUTH-EAST LAKE MACQUARIE

A survey has been delivered to the Lake Macquarie community to gauge their response to future flooding risks.

The community survey is focusing on areas such as Swansea, Pelican, Caves Beach and Blacksmiths.

All suburbs are low lying and occasionally affected by flooding.

The most recent flood was recorded in 2007.

New information is hoped to help prepare for future flooding.

Potential impacts on private property, lifestyle, outdoor spaces and transport are among the aspects covered.

The survey is part of councils work on a Local Adaption Plan for the area.

Surveys can be completed online at shape.lakemac.com.au/adapting-swansea and shape.lakemac.com.au/futurepelicanblacksmiths.
