THREE CHARGED OVER NORTH COAST ARMED ROBBERY

Three people in their 20s have been arrested over an alleged armed robbery on the state’s Far North Coast earlier this year.

A woman was closing a business Brunswick heads on March 12, when she was allegedly threatened by a man with a firearm, just after midnight.

The 28-year-old forced the woman to reopen the business, before stealing cash and threatening a security guard who arrived during the incident.

The woman was forced to drive the man in her car to Clothiers Creek Road at Cabarita, where he got out of the car and entered another vehicle.

The security guard reported the incident to police.

After extensive inquiries, investigators searched two homes at Tweed Heads and Terranora just after 7 o’clock this morning.

During the searches, officers seized mobile phones and other items.

The man, and a 29-year-old woman, were arrested at the Tweed Heads home.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested at the Terranora home.

All three were charged over the robbery at Tweed Heads Police station, and the man was given an additional drug charge.

It’s alleged both women were involved in the planning of the incident, and the younger woman was an employee of the business.

All three are due to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today.
