FORMER FOSTER CARER CHARGED OVER ALLEGED CHILD SEX OFFENCES

A former foster carer from the Hunter region will re-appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court today, charged with 20 child sex offences.

Police allege the man sexually assaulted two young girls on multiple occasions, while they were in his care, between 2002 and 2004.

The girls were then aged 8 and 10.

Following a six month investigation, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad arrested the man on Friday 6th of March.

The 65-year-old faced Raymond Terrace Local Court later that day and was refused bail.

He has been charged with 20 child sex offences including, three counts of indecent assault of a victim under 10 years of age and six counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a person between 10 and 14 years of age.

He was also charged with five counts of inciting aggravated indecency of a victim under 16 years and six counts of aggravated indecent assault of a person under 16 years of age.
