MAN ARRESTED IN BYRON BAY OVER ALLEGED DEADLY GUITAR ATTACK IN SYDNEY

A man has been charged with murder after he allegedly attacked a sleeping couple with a guitar in Sydney’s northern suburbs last week.

Last Monday, a man and woman, aged 36 and 31, were asleep in their Gladesville unit when they woke to find a man standing beside their bed.

Police allege the man used a guitar to hit the man over the head before running from the unit and later fled to Byron Bay.

The 36-year-old man suffered critical head injuries and had been in intensive care at Royal North Shore Hospital.

He died yesterday afternoon.

The 31-year-old woman was not injured.

Ryde Police Area Command police arrested a 35-year-old man in Byron Bay yesterday, about 6pm.

He was taken to Byron Bay Police Station and charged with murder.

The man, from Gladesville, has been refused bail will appear in a Lismore Local Court today.
