TAKEAWAY STORE WORKER CHASES ROBBER AWAY WITH MOP

Police are investigating if two attempted armed robberies on the Central Coast last night are linked.

Just after 7pm, two men, aged 77 and 24, and a 41-year-old woman, were working at a Berkeley Vale restaurant when a man entered armed with a handgun.

The man demanded cash and threatened the 77-year-old man, but left empty handed.

He was last seen running west along Bluebell Avenue into Grevillea Crescent.

The man is described as being around 175cm tall, with a thin build.

He was also wearing shorts and a dark coloured hooded jumper, and had his face covered.

At around 7.15pm, a man and woman both in their 40s were working at a takeaway store at Long Jetty, when a man walked inside, armed with a handgun.

The man threatened the pair and demanded cash, before the male staff member chased the other man away with a mop.

The armed man ran from the store, and was last seen running along Stella Street.

The man’s description is very similar to that of the earlier robbery.

Police are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to help with investigations.
