COVID-19 DOESN’T STOP SOME POOLS FROM CLOSING

Keen Northern Rivers swimmers will still be able to do their daily laps with Ballina War Memorial Pool and Alstonville Aquatic Centre remaining open.

Though operating hours have been reduced, with gates opening from 6 to 9am, and 4pm to 7pm.

“All the laneropes are in and people are basically getting a lane each to do their thing,” Alstonville Pool Manager Greg Fettell said.

The Coronavirus is unable to survive in pools due to chlorine levels.

Though the local venues will practice social distancing.

“We’ve got to take the chance to get out doors and at least do a little bit of exercise if we can otherwise we’ll all go a little bit crazy,” swimmer Tim Mulcahy said.

The Ballina Indoor Sports Centre and the Alstonville Entertainment Centre have been closed to comply with social distancing.
