WOMAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER CRASHING INTO A TREE ON THE CENTRAL COAST

A woman has been flown to hospital in a critical condition following a single vehicle crash on the New South Wales Central Coast.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was travelling along Wilfred Barrett Drive at Magenta Shores, at around 8 o’clock this morning, when her Holden Cruz smashed into a tree.

She was unconscious and trapped inside the vehicle when paramedics and rescue crews arrived.

They worked for around 40 minutes to free her.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter transported the woman to the John Hunter Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.

She has suffered head, chest and abdominal injuries.

Traffic is along Wilfred Barrett Drive is affected in both directions..
