The New Italy community are pushing for bushfire recovery funding to be allocated to the local Mountain Bike Forest.
Volunteers who care for the site have been unable to keep up maintenance after the area was affected by bushfire in November.
The community will work with Richmond Valley Council to upgrade the unsealed road.
They hope it will welcome more visitors to the area.
