A woman has died after she was hit by a vehicle in the Hunter last night.
The 47-year-old was walking across Main Road in Heddon Greta, just before 11pm, when a car which was travelling south hit her.
Emergency services tried to treat the woman, who was found with severe head injuries, but she later died.
The 27-year-old female driver stopped to help, and she was later taken to Maitland Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
