STOCKTON EROSION LATEST: CUSACK SLIPS IN TO STOCKTON , CAFE CLOSED

State politician Catherine Cusack has quietly slipped into Stockton for a briefing on the coastal erosion this morning. The Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter says she won’t be meeting with community members today and media were not invited. She wouldn’t comment on long term solutions and says more community consultation is needed first. She voiced her concern about the heavy swells expected to hit the coast over the next few days, as Cyclone Uesi tracks south.

Meanwhile Stockton cafe Lexie’s on the beach has been closed temporarily today and this weekend due to safety concerns. Further notice will be made on Monday. Manager/Owner Vincent Sovechles says they’d usually have 500 patrons each weekend. Vincent says he’s frustrated, angry and sad about the uncertainty. He leases the building from Newcastle City Council.
