GAV’S WEATHER | RAIN HAS ARRIVED

The east coast rain event is under way with huge rainfall totals coming down in Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

The cloud band producing the rain is increasing bringing with it more of the good stuff.

Drought ravaged parts of Western NSW are also copping a drenching.

The trough in the east will really ramp up over the weekend with more storms, heavy downpours, flash flooding and broad scale flooding forecst.

Some of that activity will spill further west, over the mountains and inland, delivering welcome relief to the drought-affected plains.

The heavy rain will focus on the Coffs Coast tonight.

This system will intensify further as it continues south through the Mid North coast and Hunter region in the coming days.

Meantime, the low off North West WA form a Cyclone in the coming days, it will be called Cyclone Damien.
