CHARGES LAID AFTER HUNTER VALLEY SHOOTING

Two men will face court today following a shooting in the Hunter Valley earlier this week.

Around 3am on Wednesday shots were fired near Mills Crescent at Cessnock.

A car was stopped by police on Doyle Street, a short time later.

Two men inside the vehicle allegedly fled on foot, while another two men were arrested and taken to Cessnock Police Station.

They were released later that day, pending further inquiries.

Following an investigation, police arrested two men – aged 27 and 21 – on Thursday and charged them with multiple firearm offences.

They were both refused bail to face Cessnock Local Court on Friday.

Investigations are continuing.
