ELDERLY COUPLE ASSAULTED AT SCONE

Police are appealing for public assistance, after a vicious attack on an elderly couple in the Hunter Valley.

On Sunday at about 10pm, a man and woman – aged 84 and 86 – were putting rubbish in a bin outside their home on Guernsey Street at Scone when an unknown woman started verbally abusing them from across the road.

She then allegedly crossed the road and assaulted them both, punching the man to the ground and kicking him in the head and body.

She also pushed the woman to the ground, before fleeing on foot.

Both victims were treated at the scene before being taken to Maitland Hospital.

They suffered cuts, grazes and bruising.

Anyone with information, dashcam footage or CCTV from the area is urged to contact Muswellbrook Police Station on (02) 6542 6999.

Inquiries continue.
