Twenty young athletes from across the Northern Rivers were today recognised for their sporting excellence.
The Federal Member for Page, Kevin Hogan MP, issued financial awards at a morning tea with the budding champions aged 12 to 18.
“What we’re doing is one acknowledging them but two we’re helping out financially. As country kids who have to go away to represent our region or our state it’s expensive so they get a grant between $500 or $700 depending on how far they’ve travelled,” Hogan said.
Those recognised had represented the region at a State, National or International level.
