A man will face Maitland Court today, over an alleged unprovoked assault yesterday.
Just after 4.30pm, a woman in her 60s was walking south along Church Street in Maitland when she stopped behind a 40-year-old man.
It’s alleged the man suddenly turned around and hit the woman in the face.
People nearby came to assist the victim, as her attacker fled the scene.
The woman was treated by paramedics before being taken to Maitland Hospital.
Officers later arrested the man at Maitland Railway Station, and he was charged with reckless wounding.
