VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER DIES EAST OF ALBURY

A volunteer firefighter has died after ferocious winds rolled two trucks.

NSW RFS confirmed the death and said two other firefighters from the same truck suffered burns and were rushed to hospital.

The firefighters were working on the Green Valley Fire, about 70 kilometres east of Albury.

It’s believed the truck rolled when it was hit by extreme winds.

A second vehicle working in the same are was also blown over by the winds.

The firefighter on board has been taken to hospital.

A statement from the RFS said “the Service’s thoughts are with all the firefighters’ families, friends, and fellow brigade members.”
