POLICE DETECT CANNABIS CULTIVATION WHILE RESPONDING TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INCIDENT

A man will face court today after police detected cannabis cultivation while responding to a domestic violence-related incident on the state’s Mid North Coast last night.

At about 9pm (Thursday 19 December 2019), police attended a property south of Port Macquarie, to conduct an apprehended domestic violence order check.

After police saw a woman run into the home, police were granted permission to search the property to locate her and check on her welfare.

The woman was found to be safe and well and left the residence a short time later.

Also, during the search police uncovered cannabis, which has been packaged in numerous resealable plastic bags, and a recently harvested cannabis plantation at the back of the property.

The 46-year-old man was arrested and taken to Port Macquarie Police Station, where he was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic), possess prohibited drug, cultivate prohibited plant and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court today (Friday 20 December 2019).
