Workers demolishing a house at Merewether got quite a shock this morning when they uncovered a World War 2 artillery shell.
A staff officer from the Williamtown RAAF Base was called in to remove the 25-pound shell…taking care, as those at the scene were unable to confirm whether or not it was still live.
It was taken away without incident.
