WINDRED FINISHES BEST PLACED HUNTER GOLFER

Charlestown’s Blake Windred was the best of our Hunter golfers at the Australian Open, grabbing equal 16th for the tournament.

He tied with Dimi Papadatos from the Central Coast, while Andrew Dodt was 33rd and Nathan Green was 54th.

Unfortunately for Windred, he saved his worst round for the final day.

He started well, dropping in a birdie on the third.

From that point his putter let him down.

The 21-year-old had a narrow miss for par on the fourth, then a heartbreaking birdie miss on the sixth, that would’ve moved him to equal second.

A double bogey on 11 ruined his chances of a top 10 finish.
