WOMAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED THEFT OF BUILDING MATERIALS NEAR TAREE

A 62-year-old woman has been charged after allegedly stealing materials from contractors who were repairing fences damaged by recent fires on the Mid North Coast.

Police have been told the group had started work on a property at Caparra, north west of Taree, when the woman allegedly became aggressive and stole building items.

It’s further alleged that on Friday, while the group were working at an address on Hobbits Way, the woman crashed into a number of fence posts and came within metres of running down one of the men.

The group also told police the woman was in possession of a rifle.

She was later arrested and charged with a number of offences including using a weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
