A man’s been charged with deliberately lighting fires in multiple suburbs across Lake Macquarie.
The 33-year-old was arrested at around 1.45pm yesterday afternoon, as police raided a home on Cherry Street at Windale.
They allege he set fire to garbage bins, items placed out for council clean-ups, and motor vehicles – four of which were destroyed on James Street.
These fires happened between November 8 and 19 at Belmont, Windale, Gateshead and Charlestown.
He’s been charged with 12 counts of destroying property by fire and refused bail.
Police also seized CCTV footage and clothing during the search.
