The Bureuau of Meteorology has announced storms will continue to move past Sydney and further north to the Central Coast and Hunter this afternoon.
Strong gusts are already recorded in the region, as damaging winds and large hailstones are forecast for areas including Gosford, Wyong, Newcastle and the Hunter at around 2pm.
The State Emergency Service is advising people to stay indoors away from windows, keep children and pets inside, unplug electical devices, keep cars under cover, and report fallen power lines.
