The Guyra Road bushfire which is burning near Ebor, east of Armidale, has this afternoon been escalated to a Watch and Act Level.

With winds fanning the flames towards the town, residents are being urged to action their Fire Safety Plan.

A 51-year-old local has been charged with deliberately lighting the blaze, allegedly to protect a cannabis crop.
