NORTHERN NSW BUSHFIRE EMERGENCY

Bushfires burning at Stockyard Flat in the Walcha LGA, Golden Road at Forster & Hillville also in the Mid Coast LGA are at an emergency level warning, on Thursday afternoon.

A large blaze burning in the Crowdy Bay National Park area on the Mid North Coast is now being controlled after earlier being listed at an emergency level.

Three other fires are listed at Watch & Act including a fire burning at Wandsworth in the Armidale LGA, Gulf Road in the Tenterfiled LGA & Lindfield Park Road in the Port Macquarie LGA.

Conditions are expected to ease into Thursday night before intensifying again on Friday.

STOCKYARD FLAT – WALCHA LGA

The Stockyard Flat fire has burnt through 4,640 hectares and is out-of-control.

There is increased fire activity on the southern edge, with the blaze moving in an easterly direction towards the Warnes River area where properties are under threat.

People in the area of Blomfield Road should seek shelter as the fire approaches.

A spokesperson for the RFS said the current strong gusts of northwesterly winds are creating quite difficult fire conditions on the ground, and they are expected to continue into Saturday.

Crew are being supported by water bombing aircraft.

GOLDENS ROAD – MID COAST LGA

The fire has broken containment lines on the eastern side of The Southern Parkway.

If you are in the areas of Goldens Road, The Southern Parkway and north of Cape Hawke Drive should seek shelter as the fire approaches.

The fire is currently 9 hectares in size and is being controlled.

HILLVILLE ROAD – MID COAST LGA

A fire is burning on the western side of the Pacific Highway, north of Possum Brush.

The fire is burning in the Talawahl Nature Reserve, moving in an easterly direction towards the Highway.

Smoke and embers may create spot fires ahead of the main fire front.

Fire-fighters are warning these spot fires may threaten homes earlier than the predicted main fire front.

Residents in the areas of Possum Brush Road and Talawahl are being advised to seek shelter as the fire approaches.

Residents in the area of Hallidays Point or Corrigan should be aware of smoke and embers.

WANDSWORTH FIRE – ARMIDALE LGA

In the neighboring Armidale LGA, an out-of-control fire burning at Guyra Road in Wandsworth is also listed at a Watch & Act.

So far, the blaze has scorched 990 hectares of land but conditions have eased and crews are strengthening containment lines.

Guyra Road is currently closed.

The RFS advises people in the area of Guyra Road and Querra Creek to continue to monitor conditions.

GULF ROAD – TENTERFIELD LGA

A fire is once again burning in the Tenterfield LGA.

The 9,655 hectare blaze is burning in the Gulf Road Torrington area and is out-of-control.

Fire-fighters say conditions across the fireground have eased slightly and the blaze continues to burn to the west of Silent Grove Road.

Crews are on scene working to contain the blaze.

BILL’S CROSSING CROWDY – MID COAST LGA

The Crowdy Bay fire has been burning for weeks and has broken containment lines on the northern side of the fire.

Crowdy Head Road is currently open but authorities say the road may be closed at short notice.

Crews have containment lines on the northern and southern sides of the fire.

The immediate threat to homes has eased.

Residents in the areas of areas of Harrington or Crowdy Head should monitor conditions and know what you will do if the fire approaches.

A total fire ban in place for much of northern New South Wales, with hot, dry and windy conditions.

LINDFIELD PARK ROAD – PORT MACQUARIE LGA

This fire has burnt through 557 hectares and is being controlled.
