PORTRAITS HELPING CONNECT SCHOOL KIDS AND AGED CARE RESIDENTS

An aged care centre in Ballina is using art to help break down the barriers between its residents and the wider community.

Students from Xavier Catholic College at Lennox Head are painting portraits of residents at three local centres.

Their spectacular works is forming part of a new exhibition at Florence Price Gardens.

“Towards the end of the year, these paintings will be donated to the actual residents, so they’ll be able to have them hanging in their rooms,” said manager, Kay GeMestre.

The idea is the brainchild of Marrick Sailor, a resident at the village.
