Disgraced New South Wales politician Milton Orkopoulos, is one step closer to being released from jail… depending on the outcome of a public review hearing.
The state parole authority says it intends to release the convicted paedophile, but wants to hear submissions from the state government and victims, before making its decision.
The former Swansea MP and Iemma government minister was given a 9 year minimum prison sentence in 2008… for 30 drug and child sex offences, committed between 1995 and 2006.
The now 62-year-old WAS eligible for parole nearly 3 years ago, but was refused because he hadn’t completed a sex offenders rehabilitation program.
The hearing is due to be held within the coming weeks – Orkopoulos will appear via videolink.
