OFFICER PUNCHED DURING ARREST AT LAKE HAVEN

A police officer has been punched in the face during an arrest at Lake Haven on the Central Coast overnight.

Officers spotted a 20-year-old man, who was wanted as part of an investigation into domestic violence offences, in a carpark on Bannister Drive around 10 o’clock on Sunday night.

He was placed under arrest and led to a nearby police car, when it’s alleged he punched an officer in the forehead, before attempting to assault a second officer.

Capsicum spray was eventually used to detain the 20-year-old, who has since been charged with a string of offences including resisting an officer in execution of duty.

He’ll reappear in Wyong Local Court on Thursday.
