MAN CHARGED OVER ALLEGED STABBINGS OUTSIDE TORONTO POLICE STATION

A man has appeared in court charged over yesterday’s police stabbing at Lake Macquarie.

25-year-old Oliver Copeland represented himself in Newcastle Local Court

Dressed in a blue forensics suit and sporting a black eye, Copeland applied for bail.

He’s charged with a number of offences, including two-counts of wounding with intent, common assault and destroying or damaging property,

The 25-year-old is accused of stabbing two-police officers at Toronto yesterday afternoon.

Several shots were fired after Copeland allegedly confronted them armed with two-knives.

No one was injured as a result of the shooting, however the two senior constables were treated for stab wounds.

Copeland’s application for release was refused, meaning he’ll remain in custody until his matter is next heard in Toronto Local Court.
