SHOULD ANDREW JOHNS BE IMMORTALISED IN NEWCASTLE?

A go-fund-me page has been set up to build a statue of former Newcastle Knights Andrew Johns out the front of McDonald Jones Stadium.

The page, which was set up on September 18, has already raised over $2,500.

Novocastrian Karlo Tychsen says despite already having a stand named after the halfback, the player should be immortalised with a bronze statue.

“They have built a statue of Wally Lewis in Brisbane, they’re going to build one for Jonathon Thurston, other sports have commemorated their greats, so the greatest of all time deserves a statue of his own.”

“Andrew Johns should have a statue built of him in Newcastle, out front of McDonald Jones Stadium, as a permanent reminder of everything he did for this town and region, and a constant reminder that the greatest there ever was is one of ours,” Mr Tychsen said.
