ALGAE WARNING ISSUED FOR RICHMOND RIVER

Casino residents are being assured the town’s water supply is safe, despite a red alert for potentially toxic blue-green algae being issued upstream of the Jabour Weir.

Locals should avoid any recreational activities on the waterway, including swimming and sailing.

While livestock owners are being urged to move stock away from any water sources showing signs of the potentially deadly algae.

Anyone who swallows or comes into contact with water at red alert levels should seek medical attention.
