EMILY VAN EGMOND JOINS LONG LIST OF DEPARTURES FOR JETS W-LEAGUE SIDE

Matildas’ star Emily van Egmond won’t return to Newcastle for the upcoming W-League season, with the club confirming the decision on Monday.

“The decision made not to return to the Jets was one based purely on footballing reasons, and I can’t say thank you enough to Deansy and everyone involved in the club over the years for everything they’ve done for me,” Van Egmond said in a statement.

She joins a long list of high profile departures for the side, which includes American quartet Arin Gilliland-Wright, Britt Eckerstrom, Katie Stengel, and Taylor Smith, along with Cortnee Vine.

“Being a Newcastle girl, it’s been a privilege to play in Jets colours for as much of my career as I have with such a good group of girls and I’d like to wish them the best of luck for the upcoming season,” said Van Egmond.

It’s unclear where Emily Van Egmond will play next.
