CHILDREN APPROACHED NEAR INVERELL

Police are investigating, after two children were approached while waiting for a school bus at Gilgai in the state’s north.

Shortly before 8am on Monday, an unknown man pulled up in a white Falcon station wagon with grey scratches on its bonnet and spoke with the children.

Police were told they both ran to a nearby home to ask for help.

The man’s described as around 50 years old, with dark hair, unshaven and was “acting in a suspicious manner.”

It’s believed he pulled a U-turn and drove away from the scene.

The incident has prompted police to ask parents to have conversations with their kids about “stranger danger.”
