A family on holidays on the Central Coast has been rescued, after spending the night trapped on a remote beach.

The group had set out to walk from the isolated village of Patonga Beach to nearby Pearl Beach when they became stranded due to the rising tide on Sunday afternoon.

Without supplies and in fading light, they managed to call emergency services who launched a large scale rescue operation.

The family of five, which included three teenages were eventually spotted by the PolAir helicopter with firefighters and paramedics able to reach the group.

They were this morning walked out by emergency services.

Despite overnight temperatures dropping into single digits, the family are reported to be uninjured.
